The wild Cars of Corse Clienti

Ferrari's glamorous Anniversary Tour (1)Ferrari Challenge series, 488 Challenge car, 2 cars racing

There is always a sprinkling of extra magic in the air with a Ferrari event, and this is especially so on Ferrari Owner's Days. Ferrari celebrated its 70 years Anniversary Celebration tour, which took place in over 60 countries, in Germany at the Hockenheimring. The spectacular track activities attracted over 1000 enthusiasts and more than 400 Ferraris.

Highlights of the event

A collection of rare and iconic models physically documenting the illustrious history of the marque was showcased on one platform with the modern Ferrari line-up, ranging from the LaFerrari Aperta, California T, 488GTB, GTC4 Lusso and the 812 Superfast in symbiotic juxtaposition close by.

Another highlight of the event was surprise guest Formel-1-Champion Kimi Räikkonen joined three Ferrari FXX-K owners to race together in brand new 488 Challenge racers.

At the close of the day, he led the jubilee parade of more than 250 Ferraris in the limited edition black LaFerrari Aperta.

Corse Clienti department

No matter if it's a Ferrari Owner's day or a Race day, the Corse Clienti department is always on hand, caring for client's needs and their very expensive-and raw, definitely-non-street-legal-cars, which participate in various racing programmes. The department is committed to serving the marque's most privileged clients- F1 Clienti, XX and Challenge series owners.

The inner sanctum circle

This ultra-exclusive F1 programme was founded in 2003 and is only available to a lucky handful of already fortunate Ferrari Owners.

A personal invitation to Ferrari's headquarter in Maranello is an exclusive prerequisite to gain access into the inner sanctum circle of amateur racing drivers.

The test laboratory

The XX laboratory offers Ferrari's ultimate driving-thrill experience on the track. It has the wildest, non-street-legal cars within its programme, like the FXX-K, the FXX, the brand new FXX-K Evo and the 599XX.

Ferrari engineers take standard road cars and convert and tune them into grip the wheel and smile through your helmet's visor race cars. The no doubt elated feedback from the owners who buy them helps Ferrari to develop further technologies, like the advanced aero package from the 599XX, which found its way onto the 599 GTO.

How to join? Either Ferrari needs to invite you to buy an already sold out FXX-K or will offer you a 599XX if there is one available...

Challenge series

The Ferrari Challenge is the widest ranging one-make series championship in the world.

More than 1000 drivers have taken part since its creation in 1993 in international GT and prototype championships. All races now have three class categories of Trofeo Pirelli, Trofeo Pirelli Am and Coppa Shell, which includes the Gentlemen and Ladies Cup.

The events take part at well-known circuits like Monza, Mugello and Silverstone in Europe, Laguna Seca, Montreal, Austin in North America, Fuji and Sepang in Asia.

Last year in early December at the Ferrari World Finals' event in Daytona, the sixth model of the Ferrari Challenge one-make series climbed up onto the 'stage'.

The 488 Challenge is now joining its illustrious forebears of the last 25 years and is grumbling around well-known race tracks approved by the FIA on three continents. It is the first ever turbo-charged model powered by a 670 CV 3,9-litre V8 engine and it is a derivation of the 2016 International Engine of the Year.

The new look of the racing beast

The 'racing beast' received striking design and areo changes over the 488 GTB V8 production car.

Its new look includes a prominent front splitter, a rear spoiler, a bigger rear wing, an airfoil and a redesigned front bonnet with triple vents and flaps to direct the hot airflow from the radiators rearwards.

Intakes on the rear flanks provide cooling air to the rear brakes, maximising downforce and the engine air intakes are now positioned laterally to take the benefit of the high pressure under the rear spoiler. The radiator layout was redesigned to provide an inverted rake inclining it towards the rear which also required new air vents to be introduced at the bottom of the bumper in front of the wheels.

The revised layout provided substantially improved air flow over the radiator and reduced drag in race conditions. Ferrari's patented Side Slip Angle Control (SSC) software has found its way for the first time into a Challenge car.

Because of these remarkable improvements and to the car's engine and chassis, the 488 Challenge race car took a whole second of the 458 Challenge Evo lap time on the Fiorano Circuit (Ferrari's private race track), setting up a new record of 1'15.5...
